Amazon Echo Auto lets Alexa ride along with me.
We have several Amazon Echo Dots in our house, and are constantly instructing Alexa to play music, set timers, and add items to our shopping list. Let's just say she's become kind of a fixture around our place.
When Amazon came out with the Alexa device for the car, I wasn't exactly sure if I needed Alexa riding along. The price at the time was only $20, though, so I decided to give it a go. It turns out Alexa is just as useful in the car, but for different reasons than at home.
I do some of my best thinking while I'm driving, and I constantly have ideas that I would struggle to remember later. I also often think of things that I need to do or items to buy. While listening to podcasts in the car, there are often references to books, websites, or people that I want to look up later. While driving, it's not possible to write any of this down. With Alexa, I tell her to capture all of these things on lists that I've set up. It's great to simply use my voice and not have to fiddle around while driving.
Alexa can also be instructed to play music just like at home, and it plays through my car's speakers. I don't use this feature as much, but it's nice when I want to access Amazon's music library in the car.
All in all, I've decided it's worth having Alexa ride along!
